


Deskriptif teks adalah salah satu jenis teks yang harus dikuasai oleh siswa. Untuk itu, pembelajaran sangat penting untuk mengembangkan skill menulis di pembelajran bahasa inggris di Indonesia karena menulis adalah sebuah proses transformasi gagasan atau ide kedalam bentuk penulisan yang jelas. It can be conclude that there is significant correlation between students’ grammar mastery and their achievement in writing descriptive text at first graders of AK-4 at SMKN 1 Bandung. Analysis of data through calculating using Pearson Product Moment Formula by SPSS 16.0 for windows, the data indicated that the sig (2-tailed) value 0.000 is lower than level of significant (ɑ) 1 % it means that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and automatically the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. Based on the calculating correlation coefficient, this research has very strong correlation, because the correlation coefficient is 0.804. This research has positive correlation, because the students has low score in grammar they also has low score in writing descriptive text and the contrary. The result of this study showed an average of students’ grammar mastery value is 59,57 and average of writing descriptive text is 61,95. Technique of analysis data in this research calculating correlation coefficient using Pearson Product Moment Formula Technique through SPSS 16.00 for windows. While method in data collection uses distributing test. The research instrument conducted through test. Both variables were examined in this research is the independent variable that is grammar mastery and achievement in writing descriptive text. The number of sample is 37 students determine using purposive sampling technique. The population in this research is the first grade of Accounting at SMK Negeri 1 Bandung totaled 190 students. This research, the researcher uses correlational design with quantitative approach. Furthermore, the purpose of this research is to find out whether there is correlation between students’ grammar mastery and their achievement in writing descriptive text. The formulation of this research is: “Is there any significant correlation between students’ grammar mastery and their achievement in writing descriptive text?”.

So, the grammar mastery related with their achievement in writing. Grammar is one of fundamental aspects that effects one’s writing, without good grammar mastery, ones may have difficulties in conveying their ideas in writing. Grammar has very close relationship with writing and writing itself takes an important part in a process of learning a language. The descriptive text is one genre that must be mastered by students.

Therefore, learning is very important for improving writing in particular learning in Indonesia because the writing is a process of transformation of thoughts and ideas into clearly forms of writing. In writing the students not only write something but they must also pay attention to the things that make the message be clear and understandable.
